The ol' 77

It's official. We have parted ways. 33 years as part of the family. I'm gonna miss that ol' truck.

The parting

My new years resolution this year was to stop being so attached to things. I thought about it for a few weeks... Hey, I've got two bikes and two Blazers... Shouldn't I only have one of each? By thinking this I immediately told myself if you thought this, it must be right, right? So, which Blazer and which bike to go? On the Blazer, I've got one that my dad bought in '79. How much more sentimental can you get? I practiclly grew up in that thing! Then there is the new to me Blazer. It is way more solid of a truck, better engine, better transmission, newer this that and all. So what's it gonna be, sentimental or sound? Being as I plan on keeping one of them forever, I'm going with sound. My Pops and I have been through alot with that ol' Blazer, lots of memories, both good and bad. That's just it. Memories. I think some other father and son need to get the truck and let it create memories for them. I've hogged it enough.
The CB750 below was bought because it was a good deal, and because it is a '73 (the year I was born).  I almost feel I need to part with it before I end up looking at it like it's the Blazer (to prove a point). I'll still have a Blazer, and I'll still have a bike. But for now, I have two of each. Come on craigslist. Hate to see them go, but I'm looking at it like I am hoarding someone elses future memories...

gifts

So my wife gets me this bike the other day for my birthday. It's exactly what I wanted! Ardun and I will get plenty of use from it. Now Gavin has someone to ride bikes with. I took it for a spin, Samantha took it for a spin. Guess which one of us wiped out? Yep, Samantha. She did a great job of protecting Ardun... but not a good job at all of protecting herself. Banged up elbow and ankle. I am really proud of how she put Ardun first. She might be a good mom after all!

That's gonna leave a mark.

So I'm sitting there watching Ardun play, took my eyes off him for a second and he starts crying hystericly. (He's tuff and doesn't cry.) It appears that he either pinched his nose in his sunglasses or the dog bit him. He's got a nice lil gash at the top of his nose between his eyebrows now. The deal is we have two dogs. Huckleberry, who is my five year old basset and Riley, who is my wife's ten year old corgie mix. Fortunately Huck was no where near Ardun when the shit hit the fan. Had he been the wife would had me put him outside for the night at minimum, if not indefinatly. Good ol' Riley, who has snapped at Ardun before, was not disciplined, we don't even know if she is guilty of anything. The good news is Ardun is a really tuff little guy, the bad news is he's probably gonna get a scar out of the deal. I love that little guy so much and it hurts me deeply to see him in pain. I'm just so overly thankful that he is not a crybaby. He's my little Evel Knievel!
