minute to win it

Almost 20 months old now... Ardun is such a sponge. He's soaking up all the knowledge one can throw at him (knowingly or not). He's an awesome little guy with a big personality. He's kept us busy for the last 20 months. I cant believe he's almost two. When I stop to think about, I'm two years older as well. Time flys when you are having fun!

clean your room

Well I'm a firm believer that one can never have too much "stuff". I mean as long as it is good stuff. It doesn't have to be organized, just displayed. O.k., it can be stored, just be neat about it!

gifts

So my wife gets me this bike the other day for my birthday. It's exactly what I wanted! Ardun and I will get plenty of use from it. Now Gavin has someone to ride bikes with. I took it for a spin, Samantha took it for a spin. Guess which one of us wiped out? Yep, Samantha. She did a great job of protecting Ardun... but not a good job at all of protecting herself. Banged up elbow and ankle. I am really proud of how she put Ardun first. She might be a good mom after all!

That's gonna leave a mark.

So I'm sitting there watching Ardun play, took my eyes off him for a second and he starts crying hystericly. (He's tuff and doesn't cry.) It appears that he either pinched his nose in his sunglasses or the dog bit him. He's got a nice lil gash at the top of his nose between his eyebrows now. The deal is we have two dogs. Huckleberry, who is my five year old basset and Riley, who is my wife's ten year old corgie mix. Fortunately Huck was no where near Ardun when the shit hit the fan. Had he been the wife would had me put him outside for the night at minimum, if not indefinatly. Good ol' Riley, who has snapped at Ardun before, was not disciplined, we don't even know if she is guilty of anything. The good news is Ardun is a really tuff little guy, the bad news is he's probably gonna get a scar out of the deal. I love that little guy so much and it hurts me deeply to see him in pain. I'm just so overly thankful that he is not a crybaby. He's my little Evel Knievel!

Inside out

It's been one of those weeks again. Since I moved 20 minutes west of downtown it is hard for me to see my friends. I've a few who have actually made the "trek out west" to see me. With a family and a 20 month old, it's hard for me to find time to get out. It's really cool to get a visitor from time to time. I'd like to think motorbike Mike for coming out to the house tonight. He traded me a few good stories for a haircut. I'm still laughing about the dentist. Good luck with your tooth ache. Need anything, just call.

The power of positive

Today was a good day. I had one of the shittiest days yesterday, and really needed a day like today. Thank GOD for shitty days... without them we would have just days.

25 years and counting

September 13, 1985 my mom remarried. Wow, Marc's been around that long. Where has the time gone? The little guy in the picture is Ardun. He's a little over a year and a half old now and Marc has been an awesome Grandpa. He's got grand kids of his own flesh and blood and he treats Ardun as an equal. He really loves the little guy, and Marc we love you. You are as good as gold, a genuine dude, and I'm proud to call you my stepdad.

Sunday at the Dyson's.

My ol' buddy Patrick and I rode the bikes out to Bill and Jean Dyson's. Every year they have a little get together with all us hot rodders. It's not a birthday, it's not an anniversary, it's "The Thing".

Its flooding down in Texas...

What a way to start the day! My old friend named wiper motor gave up on me this morning. Doesn't really matter, my windshield was so fogged up I couldn't see anyhow...

Hindsight is 20/20

If any you ladies go out for a bike ride either ponytail it, or put it up under the helmet. Avoid the rats nest and the two and a half hours it took my mother in law and I to comb out... Babe, you don't have to get that boy cut after all! I think I love your hair as much as you do...

Labor Day Weekend

Saturday the wife and I rode the CB out to Deep Ellum. Some friends of mine (THEM! Car Club) put on a show called Invasion. Good to get out of the house and see some old friends. The cars were nice, but the weather was nicer. I was really proud of my wife, she didn't complain about anything. I had a great time.

Beautiful weather

Drove across town to an outdoor carshow. Beautiful weather really brought the people out. Some how I managed to not see anyone I knew. That means I saw a ton of cars I'd never seen before. That was refreshing. It was like I was from out of town. I didn't have my camera so I didn't take any pictures. I saw a nice Model A and a really cool 70's style van. The rest was pretty much muscle cars old and new. Perfect way to spend a beautiful evening by surrounding yourself with people of like mind enjoying themselves. I think next time I'll take the kids.

Ol' what's his name

I used to see this guy once a month. He was a customer to the shop. Had the cleanest bike around. I didn't know his name but we talked cycles. Nice bike, nicer guy. I'd say he was in his late 50's. Someone hit and ran leaving him in pretty bad shape. He was pulling through and died of a bloodclot in his leg. Sorry buddy I didn't ever learn your name... FTW. Godspeed.

The "D.B. Special"

So I buy this 66 long bed with no motor or transmission to have a cool shop truck.  I've got everything to make it a go, and my buddy calls me (drunk) and says he wants to trade the bike for the truck... Only thing is I've gotta make it a short bed. For the record I tried to talk him out of it. I told him to sober up and we'll talk later. The next day I get a text asking if the truck is a short bed... A week later I'm knees in the breeze. Thanks buddy, It's been fun.
