The parting

My new years resolution this year was to stop being so attached to things. I thought about it for a few weeks... Hey, I've got two bikes and two Blazers... Shouldn't I only have one of each? By thinking this I immediately told myself if you thought this, it must be right, right? So, which Blazer and which bike to go? On the Blazer, I've got one that my dad bought in '79. How much more sentimental can you get? I practiclly grew up in that thing! Then there is the new to me Blazer. It is way more solid of a truck, better engine, better transmission, newer this that and all. So what's it gonna be, sentimental or sound? Being as I plan on keeping one of them forever, I'm going with sound. My Pops and I have been through alot with that ol' Blazer, lots of memories, both good and bad. That's just it. Memories. I think some other father and son need to get the truck and let it create memories for them. I've hogged it enough.
The CB750 below was bought because it was a good deal, and because it is a '73 (the year I was born).  I almost feel I need to part with it before I end up looking at it like it's the Blazer (to prove a point). I'll still have a Blazer, and I'll still have a bike. But for now, I have two of each. Come on craigslist. Hate to see them go, but I'm looking at it like I am hoarding someone elses future memories...

1973

1973 Electra Glide

the one on the left

Donald's old hardtail.

Stumbled upon a 1973 FLH. Everything about it sounds just right. Even the price! Shook hands with the owner over the phone. Now all I have to do is come up with the dough. Selling the one on the left and Donald's old hardtail to aquire the FLH. The old K5 used to belong to my dad and has been in the family for 32 years. I never, NEVER, ever thought I'd be parting ways with this old pal of mine. I grew up in that truck and have a shit-ton of memories with that thing. I'l be really sad to part ways with the family truck, but I have plenty of memeories both good and bad. As for Donald's old hardtail, we made some memories too.

K5 #2 (The 78)

So I fired the ol' turd up tonight and coated the shop floor with oil. It just so happens that the transmission cooler line got a pin hole in it when it was in the 51. Other than that it's coming together nicely. It still needs drop spindles, radiator, exhaust and a drive shaft. I'll dye the seats and slap some carpet in it and color match the hood. Almost forgot... I'm gonna need some painted steelies and dog dish caps.

From the Deer Lease to Easy Street

A hard days night... or two.

Thanks Allen for the parts 'Burban

Nice dent...

All I had to do was take the door panel off and press it out by hand. That was the easiest thing I've done all week. Add another two wheel drive Blazer to my collection. Should be on the road in about a month... Funds permitting.

Welcome Home!

1978 K5 Blazer.
Picked this up last Sat. This thing is in awesome shape. Even though it started life out as a 4X4, I'll give it the DROP. The axles didn't come with it, the guy was just nice enough to loan them to me so I could get it home.

The one that got away

Craigslist ad: 1961 Honda Dream 305. 20,000 miles, electric start, new tires, ride her home $1,200 obo. I wasn't in the market for one of these, but I thought it was a great deal... I was next in line and the guy ahead of me payed full asking price. Oh well, do I really need another bike....

Key to the city

... If you have one, I can now make you a copy!
I've always wanted a key machine of my own. The other day I said it out loud and my lovely wife responded with "I've got one at work that is broken. You could probably fix it." She brought it home and I assesed the damages...
One cross threaded set screw on motor pulley. Tapped that. $0
One belt missing. $6
Four missing machine screws and washers that hold cover on. $2
One key blank to test it out $2...
$10 invested in a key machine that will pay for itself by cutting five keys = HELLUVA GOOD DEAL!!!

Happy 37th old man!

Nothing says I love you like a cruise to a country that wont allow you...
Where do I start?.... My luggage was found... Get this, the guy checking us in at DFW tells me he's not gonna charge me for my bag because it's my birthday. Remember, you get what you pay for. Boston blamed Milwaukee, which minded me none, I just wanted my bag. Evidently my bag went back to Milwaukee from Boston, then back to Boston. The airline had a shuttle deliver it at the last moment, enabling us to make it to the cruise ship on time.

This was our "crash pad" for seven days/nights decorated all out for my birthday. Thanks babe, I love you!

Here is a beautiful view of Halifax, Nova Scotia as the sun is beginning to set.

My view for seven days on a smoke break.

Theodore the adorable little tour boat.

Greeted by customs in Canada...Long story.

If you have ever recieved a card as this I suggest that you get written permission to enter Canada!

You would had thought I was this guy the way I was treated!

Nothing like a 30 minute chat with Canada's finest!
